Memory Match: a board of cards, some turned over to show sums and answers

Pick a times table

How to play

Half the cards hide a sum and half hide an answer. Turn over two. If a sum meets its own answer, both stay face up. If not, they turn back, so remember where they were. Clear the board to win. It suits children aged about 7 to 12.

Why matching helps

Finding the right card means working out the answer and then remembering where it was. That extra step makes a fact easier to recall later. Playing one table a few times is a good way to learn it, and the mixed board checks what has stuck.
