How to play

A sum appears at the top and balloons float up with answers on them. Tap the balloon with the right answer to pop it. There are 10 sums and a friendly clock, with more time for younger children. A wrong tap shows the answer, then the game moves on.

Tips for adding and taking away

• Start from the bigger number and count on. For 3 + 8, start at 8 and count three more.
• Make 10 first. For 8 + 6, move 2 from the 6 to the 8, which gives 10 + 4 = 14.
• Check taking away by adding back: if 12 − 5 = 7, then 7 + 5 should make 12.
